The vehicle is secured inside a container and has less exposure to the external environment. This format is convenient for expensive cars, additional cargo where permitted, and routes with developed container logistics.

You need to consider lashing, loading, terminal charges, possible container transshipment and the opening procedure. A container reduces a number of risks but does not eliminate the need for insurance and photographic documentation.

RoRo

Roll-on/Roll-off means the vehicle is driven onto the vessel and rolled off at the arrival port. It is usually an efficient format on direct services for operational vehicles.

Availability depends on the route and schedule. Personal items are often prohibited, and the vehicle must meet the operator’s requirements for technical condition and fuel level.

Car carrier and land transport

A car carrier is used within the UAE, after the sea leg or on a fully land route. It is important to know the transshipment points, platform type, securing method and who is responsible for each segment.

An enclosed car carrier is more expensive but may be justified for a collector or very expensive vehicle. For a standard car, a quality open transporter with insurance is usually sufficient.

Transit times and transshipments

Transit time consists of waiting for a sailing, terminal handling, transit, transshipments, customs procedures and release. Promising only the sea time does not reflect the actual delivery date.

The more carrier and terminal changes, the more important unified coordination becomes. We provide an estimated window rather than guaranteeing a date that is outside the control of the port, weather and government authorities.

Insurance and condition recording

Before handover the vehicle is photographed from all sides and the mileage, interior, glass, wheels and completeness of equipment are recorded. Insurance coverage is checked for risks, exclusions, deductible and declared value.

In case of damage the handover report, photographs and timely notification are important. Signing a clean document without inspection can complicate a claim.

How to choose the shipping method

When choosing, compare the total price to the destination city, transit time, number of transshipments, insurance coverage and vehicle requirements. For an expensive or low-slung car, safe loading may be a priority over the lowest rate.
